Arrecife decorated this Thursday seven agents of the Local Police for their 25 years of service, during the official act presided over by the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León.

In the act, held in the plenary hall, coinciding with the 'Day of the Local Police of Arrecife,' the city council also paid tribute to agent Ángel Cejudo Delgado, upon the conclusion of his work stage due to retirement.

Along with the mayor, the head of the Local Police, José Antonio Lasso, spoke, who made a detailed balance of the year, about to conclude, where this body has provided "more than 30,000 services" during this entire year 2023.

Yonathan de León highlighted in his speech, where the entire Government group, councilors from the opposition groups, military authorities, and police officers from other bodies on the island were present, that in this 2023 the "advances of the Local Police are notorious."

The mayor detailed the improvements that, along with the new headquarters of the Local Police, the recent premiere of the video surveillance system, and the incorporation of new vehicles, are joined by the outstanding "successes" of the police operations where local agents have intervened. The mayor congratulated the agents for these services, some of them alone, and many others in cooperation with other State Security forces and bodies.

De León, as the direct person in charge of the Local Police, announced that in 2024 "new agents" will be incorporated into the Local Police, who are already in training at the academy, in a joint global call in the Canary Islands, and, in addition, the Public Employment Offer for 2024 has already been signed where, through a Service Commission, "more direct positions" will be opened for the Local Police.

The mayor pointed out that in the new year the expansion of the Local Police's vehicle fleet will be "notorious with the bidding processes" that he has launched in this period in which he has been mayor of the city.

After the speeches, the first mayor presided over the presentation of decorations, where military authorities, representatives of the National Police, the head of the Local Police, and the deputy mayor, Echedey Eugenio, also participated.

The City Council has distinguished agents Manuel Orlando Hernández Feo, Miguel Ángel Barber Fernández, Jorge Antonio Quintero Guzmán, José David Suárez Fernández, Ángel Samuel Hernández Álvarez, Jaime José Neyi Castilla and Oswaldo Jesús Espino Delgado in the act.
