The path is cleared for Ástrid Pérez in the fight for the presidency of the Popular Party. Saray Rodríguez's candidacy decided this Wednesday not to present the delegates for the vote this Saturday, April 3, "given that she has not been able to consult until 11:30 a.m. today the list of people who endorsed and the registered members of her own candidacy who were invalid and those who were valid, despite the Organizing Committee knowing it since last Friday and denying in writing that possibility of consultation until today."

In this way, the Organizing Committee announced this Wednesday that once the registration period for affiliates and delegates for the local assemblies has ended, the only candidacy that has presented candidates for delegates has been that of Astrid Pérez Batista.

"As no candidate for delegate has been presented by the candidacy of Saray Rodríguez Arrocha, the Organizing Committee has proclaimed as delegates all the candidates presented by Astrid Pérez, according to article 9.5 of the Regulations of the IX Extraordinary Island Congress."

In this way, they explain that "in the assemblies to be held next Saturday, April 3, 2021, only the election of president by the registered affiliates who are up to date with their fees is in order."

The candidates for delegates presented by the pre-candidate Astrid Pérez amount to 186, of which 8 correspond to NNGG.

Reasons why Saray Rodríguez's candidacy does not present delegates

From the pre-candidacy of Saray Rodriguez they defend that; "they have changed their mind this very morning, a whole week refusing to accept that legitimate right, including today, and half an hour later at 11:30 a.m. and via Whatsapp and email they inform us that we do have the right to consult it, and when the deadline was closing at 6:00 p.m. to present the delegates."

"How were we going to know of the 160 endorsements and registered members that we presented and of the 68 that they invalidated with whom we could count for delegates, if they did not let us access that list, until only 6 hours before the deadline they decide, changing their own criteria, to let us access." Argue the pre-candidacy of Saray Rodriguez.

"No less relevant is the case of several affiliates who appear for this Organizing Committee as non-affiliates, and striking is the case of the last candidate for the City Council of Tinajo, who is denied her participation in this congress, or several

affiliates who have come today, card in hand, to the headquarters and to whom this Organizing Committee has also denied their affiliation to the PP of Lanzarote", point out from the candidacy of Rodríguez.

Therefore, "from the team of the candidacy of Saray Rodriguez they feel ashamed of how this congress is being managed, clearly oriented to put obstacles in their way to the presidency of the PP of Lanzarote."

"The only positive thing about all this is that both the refusals to let us access the census and the list of registered members and endorsements, correct or incorrect, have been expressed in writing, with which they will not be able to argue the opposite of what

we denounce."

The decision not to present the delegates is based, in addition, "on the written request to the Committee of Rights and Guarantees of the PP of the Canary Islands where we request the paralysis of the Congress of the PP of Lanzarote for all the irregularities already

previously denounced, and as this response has not yet arrived, we decided not to present our delegates so as not to whitewash a congress designed for the official candidate, the mayor, parliamentarian and president Ástrid Pérez, to win."
