The former councilor of the Popular Party, Maite Corujo, will accompany Pedro San Ginés as number nine on the electoral list with which he intends to renew his mandate and return to govern the Cabildo. Corujo's integration into CC was one of the unknowns that existed after she resigned from her position as councilor in the first institution last Thursday and resigned from the PP, and it was cleared up on Tuesday night, at the presentation of the CC candidate to the Cabildo in the Sociedad Torrelavega. According to Corujo in Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, she joined CC this Tuesday, hours before the event.
In the presentation of his candidacy, Pedro San Ginés showed "his pride in sharing the podium with those who, he says, reinforce his candidacy: David de la Hoz and Migdalia Machín." During his speech, San Ginés nevertheless highlighted the qualities of each and every one of the members of his list, also dedicating words of gratitude for having joined the project.
"A young, prepared, solvent, strong and experienced team to provide solutions to the new challenges of Lanzarote and La Graciosa and continue with the work that has been developed in recent years," he added.
A "tandem candidacy" together with Echedey Eugenio
The CC candidate for the Presidency of the Cabildo also alluded to the need for Arrecife to acquire the respect and importance it deserves as the capital of the island and as the third capital of the Canary Islands, for which he reaffirmed his commitment to "a tandem candidacy together with Echedey Eugenio that will allow the nationalist formation to govern in the Cabildo and in the City Council and thus be able to work together and without any obstacles, to achieve the objective of 'Lanzarotizing' Arrecife."
In the same vein, the candidate for the Arrecife City Council stressed that the capital needs an urgent change. "We are going to implement a working methodology that will allow us to achieve the goals that will change the city; but this is not the work of one person, to achieve it we need CC to govern in the City Council, in the Cabildo and in the Government of the Canary Islands."
"CC is the only project that can move this island forward"
For her part, the island secretary of CC and number three on the list for the Cabildo, Migdalia Machín, highlighted "the loyalty, commitment and capacity for work and management of Pedro San Ginés", and stressed that "Coalición Canaria is the only project that can move this island forward." "Because we are an open and inclusive project, which does not close doors to anyone, which builds bridges of negotiation and which thinks about the team, leaving personalism aside," she said.
Also taking the stage were the number two candidate for Congress of Deputies for the province of Las Palmas, Carmen Rosa Márquez, and the candidate for Senate for Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Luis Arráez. The latter gave a tour of the nine years of Pedro San Ginés at the head of the first institution.
"He arrived at the Presidency of the Cabildo when the island was mired in the biggest political and economic crisis of recent years, with a Cabildo in ruins, without budgets, Inalsa intervened and daily water cuts, Zonzamas in flames, the Tourist Centers bankrupt and millionaire losses. A pessimistic and disheartening panorama that Pedro, with an important team of men and women, managed to transform. He separated the urgent from the important and now we not only have a healthy Cabildo, but also a stable and prosperous one."
