The San Bartolomé City Council has approved the authorization for the implementation of a motorhome reception area in Playa Honda. In this way, the municipality becomes a pioneer on the island of Lanzarote in taking this type of measure.
Through the implementation of this measure, the City Council intends to regulate and develop the orderly exercise of this activity in the municipality, allowing the parking and overnight stay of motorhomes.
The designation of this space is part of the process initiated for the reconversion of Playa Honda and will be integrated into the future Urban Park of the town. It will have a capacity for eight vehicles that can stay overnight for 72 hours in the place. However, as clarified by the City Council, the measure will allow the parking of motorhomes, but will not authorize the placement of awnings or campaign booths, nor any other type of element that protrudes from the perimeter of the vehicle.
The reservation of a place in the area enabled by the City Council will be done "in a novel way" through a mobile application. In this way, the process will be systematized, making it "easier" for the user.
Mayor Alexis Tejera explained that this measure "seeks to provide an alternative to all the caravaners on the island who have been demanding places to spend the night in their vehicles for quite some time." In addition, the mayor stated that the "activity will be carried out maximizing respect and rest for the residents of Playa Honda."
"This measure aims to make Playa Honda an increasingly open town for all those who want to visit it, in addition to promoting and allowing coexistence,” said the Councilor for Transportation and Traffic, Isidro Pérez.
