The San Bartolomé City Council has put out to public tender the joint sale of five municipal plots located in the industrial area of Playa Honda. In total, the plots are sold for 2.2 million euros with the aim of attracting an industrial project with high social, economic, and labor impact.

The procedure, proposed as a tender and not as an auction, guarantees that public land is exclusively allocated to initiatives that generate "inclusive employment and real productive activity".

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, emphasizes that this operation “represents a decisive step in the responsible management of municipal heritage.” “We are not talking about simply selling land, but about putting it at the service of a project that generates stable, quality employment with a strong social component. We want Playa Honda to continue being an economic engine, but also a space where inclusion and sustainability are a reality.”

The Councillor for Urban Planning, Marlene Romero highlights that this public tender is designed to attract solid and transformative projects. “These plots are not intended for just any activity. We are looking for an industrial implementation capable of generating job opportunities for groups that need them most and that contributes to the economic development of the municipality. It is a clear commitment to a model of responsible growth with direct social impact,” she stated.

The tender document establishes strict requirements to guarantee that impact: creation of around 150 direct jobs, of which at least 75% must be for people with disabilities; a minimum private investment of eight million euros; industrial activity linked to strategic sectors such as hospitality, social and health care, or industrial; and environmental commitments in energy efficiency, water management, and emissions reduction. The award will be made using 100% objective and quantifiable criteria.

The plots, currently without municipal use and classified as industrial land, total an area of 4,991 square meters. The smallest has 872 square meters and the largest reaches 1,290 square meters. Their joint alienation will allow the implementation of a large-scale activity, as stated in the technical file, which indicates that this aggregated surface is “essential for the correct technical and operational dimensioning of the intended project”.
