The San Bartolomé City Council has installed 269 new containers for organic waste with a built-in pedal in the town of Playa Honda. As reported in a press release, these purchases are part of the council's commitment to achieving "a cleaner and more sustainable municipality."
The mayor, Isidro Pérez, highlights the institution's commitment to sustainability, the environment and better waste management, “so it is not just about improving the image of the collection and separation points, but also about reducing the impact of odor and minimizing insect pests.”
For his part, the Councilor for Public Services and the Environment, Raúl de León, explains that the installation of the new containers in Playa Honda has been awarded to the company Jcoplastic Ibérica 2000 S.L.
De León emphasizes the importance of continuing to develop awareness campaigns on the need to make appropriate use of organic waste collection services, as well as separation and recycling points. “Reusing, reducing and recycling continue to be the keys to achieving a more environmentally committed, more supportive and more responsible society,” he says.
In this sense, he anticipates the intention to toughen the sanctioning measures against the incorrect use of waste collection points. As he recalls, there is a municipal door-to-door free collection service for belongings, operating on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through the telephone number 928 819 473.
