The San Bartolomé City Council has launched the Safety, Rescue, and Lifeguarding Campaign on the beaches of Guacimeta and Juan El Curita, a service that will remain operational until October 31st with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of residents and visitors during the summer season.

The device will provide service every day of the week, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and will have a team of four lifeguarding professionals responsible for surveillance, prevention, and attention to any incident that may occur on the coast of Playa Honda.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted that “with the arrival of summer and the increase in users on our beaches, reinforcing safety becomes an absolute priority for the City Council. We want residents and visitors to enjoy our coastline with the utmost peace of mind and with the guarantee of having a professional service prepared to act in any situation”.

The mayor added that “Playa Honda is one of the most frequented areas in the municipality, and having a surveillance and rescue device of this nature contributes to offering a safer, more accessible environment prepared to meet the needs of all citizens”.

One of the most notable aspects of the campaign is once again the commitment to universal accessibility. The service includes bathing assistance for people with reduced mobility, accompaniment in the water, and the availability of an amphibious chair on Guacimeta beach, thus facilitating access to the sea on equal terms for people with disabilities and the elderly with mobility difficulties.

For his part, the Councilor for Citizen Security, Mamadou Yero Sy Cisse, highlighted the coordination between administrations to guarantee the provision of the service.

“This device is possible thanks to the joint work between the San Bartolomé City Council, the Lanzarote Security and Emergencies Consortium, and other collaborating entities. Institutional coordination is fundamental to offering an effective response and guaranteeing the safety of those who enjoy our beaches”.

The councilor also emphasized that “we have top-level human and material resources, prepared to act quickly in any emergency and to carry out important preventive work that is key to avoiding incidents”.

The service has a fully equipped rapid intervention vehicle, a semi-rigid inflatable boat with a highly maneuverable engine, sanitary material, a defibrillator, and maritime communication equipment that allow for an immediate response to any risk situation.

Likewise, the campaign has the collaboration of the Consortium of Security and Emergencies of Lanzarote, which finances a large part of the cost of the service provided by the company Rescates y Emergencias del Norte, as well as the support of ESTEP and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), which have provided various materials for the lifeguard stations and signage.

The San Bartolomé City Council reminds everyone of the importance of always respecting the instructions of the lifeguard staff and the flag signage, appealing to individual responsibility as a fundamental element for enjoying the beaches safely.

With this initiative, the City Council "reaffirms its commitment to the protection of citizens, risk prevention, and the continuous improvement of public services linked to the safe enjoyment of the municipality's coastline".
