The general secretary of the PSC-PSOE of Tenerife, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, was very satisfied yesterday with José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero's decision to open the political year with a rally on the Island and stressed that "the sensitivity" of the President of the Government with the Canary Islands "is indisputable".
That sensitivity goes "beyond media gestures and good words", said the leader of the Tenerife socialists, for whom it is very important for the tourist image of the Canary Islands that for the first time a Spanish Prime Minister has chosen the islands for his summer holidays.
According to the Deputy Secretary General of the Tenerife PSOE, José Manuel Corrales, the party awaits the arrival of Rodríguez Zapatero with pride for the work done at the head of the Spanish Government, which has been very beneficial for Tenerife, he said.
Despite the public event being held in the middle of August, Corrales predicted a large presence of militants and citizens on Friday at seven in the afternoon at the Sánchez Bacallado celebrations and congress center, in Guamasa.
That center has capacity for 1,500 people comfortably seated, but up to 2,000 can enter, Corrales said.
