The mayor of Yaiza, José Francisco Reyes, today alerted the citizens of the municipality about the cut that the Government of the Canary Islands intends to execute with respect to the budgets programmed by the Executive for
the year 2006 in new investments in educational equipment.
The first mayor warns of the disappearance of some 3 million euros contemplated for the new Secondary Education Institute of Playa Blanca, with a partida of 1,500,000 euros and new infant and primary classrooms, also with another partida of 1,500,000 euros.
Reviews
The City Council documents that in the current budgets of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands for the current year 2005, the partidas 03618103 (new institute of Playa Blanca L 4) are reviewed in the municipal district of Yaiza, with 1,500,000 euros for the year 2006; and the other partida 03618H04, with 1,500,000 euros, for the Infant and Primary classroom of Playa Blanca. Both investments are contemplated in the Southern Plan, charged to the year 2006.
Now, says the mayor of the Nationalist Party of Lanzarote, "surprisingly the Government of the Canary Islands withdraws these investments in the preliminary draft of the budgets of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands
for the next year and only contribute about 185,000 euros instead of the 3 million planned in their official documents".
Population growth
The level of enrollments and population growth of the residents in Playa Blanca determines the construction of new classrooms for the infant and primary school; and the creation of a new institute of
media that should enter into service in the academic year 2007-08.
The Municipal Corporation of Yaiza has scheduled an extraordinary plenary session for this Monday, November 21, where the Government of the Canary Islands is demanded to correct these budget partidas and guarantee the
construction of the new Institute.
