The Lanzarote En Pie councillor in the Yaiza Town Hall, Ramiro Muñoz, has denounced the "negligent" action of the councillor responsible for the Parks and Gardens Department of the southern council "for manipulating and driving construction machinery without the necessary permit and protection."

According to Muñóz, councillor Rubén Arca "would have moved an articulated boom lift along a section of Avenida Faro Pechiguera, from the CEIP of Playa Blanca to a side of it, without having the official and certified training for the manipulation of this type of vehicles known as mobile elevating work platform (MEWP)."

For the Lanzarote En Pie councillor, “this type of action should not be typical of a public representative with government responsibility”. Furthermore, he maintains that “he could have endangered the safety of vehicles and pedestrians in the area”.

Ramiro Muñóz points out that the National Institute for Safety and Hygiene at Work establishes the safety and health conditions required for construction machinery in its article 210.4, which states that "the operating personnel must be qualified and trained" and that "the use and access to persons without authorisation in mobile elevating platforms will not be allowed."

Likewise, Muñóz points out that the Council has been organising a series of courses for this purpose, “which Mr. Arca could have attended, like any other citizen, to operate this type of equipment with the minimum safety guarantees”.

According to the Lanzarote En Pie councillor, "the councillor acknowledged the facts in the last Plenary Session of the Yaiza Town Hall", for which he considers that "Rubén Arca should apologise to the citizens of the south, as he is a public representative obliged to act from responsibility and example.”
