The Tías City Council has launched, for the first time, a Support Point for autistic people and a Calm Space at the Fiestas del Carmen amusement fair, an initiative that has the support of the fair operators and seeks to facilitate that all people and their families can enjoy this leisure space in a more accessible, safe, and inclusive environment.
The initiative will take place on July 27 and August 3, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and will be possible thanks to the collaboration with the SentirTE association, which will be the entity responsible for providing specialized support during both days.
The Support Point will be staffed by professionals from SentirTE, who will offer information, guidance, and support to autistic people and their families, as well as therapeutic support when necessary.
Likewise, the City Council will set up a Calm Space in El Fondeadero, designed so that those who need a moment of sensory regulation or rest have a quiet and adequate environment.
The first deputy mayor and councilor for Social Welfare, Nicolás Saavedra, expresses his wish that the festivities "be a space for all citizens to meet and that no one finds barriers to enjoy them. This initiative represents an important step towards more accessible and inclusive celebrations and demonstrates that, with the collaboration of specialized entities like SentirTE, we can offer a tailored response to the needs of many families."
For her part, the councilor for Festivities, Miriam Hernández, emphasizes that "from the first moment we understood that it was essential to provide specialized support, accompany those who need it, and contribute to making the fair experience much more comfortable and safe for everyone."
The Tías City Council thanks SentirTE for its involvement in this project, which will allow the incorporation of new support resources during the festivities and continue to move towards a more accessible, participatory, and diversity-respecting celebration model, enabling all people to enjoy the amusement fair on equal terms.
