Podemos Lanzarote has condemned in a statement on social networks the attitudes and manifestations of a marked racist nature that have occurred on the island in recent weeks. "The targeting and discrimination against migrants has no place in any democratic society," the statement emphasizes.

In addition, it denounces the partisan use that is intended to be given to a situation of vulnerability and social urgency, "in order to manipulate the population and confront them with each other to obtain political gains." From Podemos Lanzarote, it is demanded that the administrations do their job and provide the necessary means to provide adequate care to unaccompanied migrant minors. It also harshly criticizes some of the latest measures taken by the institutions: "we consider that actions typical of an Apartheid state are being carried out, inconceivable today in our plural and multicultural society.

Podemos Lanzarote concludes the statement asking for a thoughtful reflection on the challenges posed by immigration and recalls that "the Canarian people are supportive and welcoming, aware of the difficulties that arise when emigrating to another region or country. The Canary Islands are a land of hope, today and always."
