The president of the Sí Podemos Canarias Parliamentary Group, María del Río, has urgently requested the General Directorate of the Coast and the Sea, which depends on the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, to send the regional Chamber the documentation on the concession of the public maritime-terrestrial domain occupied by the Hotel Los Fariones, in Puerto del Carmen, and its subsequent extension.

In this way, Del Río affirms that she will study "the possible irregularities" that this hotel establishment may be committing by "closing a space for public use such as the pier", since it has been fenced and the payment of ten euros has been announced to be able to access it. "It cannot be that the interests of a hotelier are above the rights of the citizens of Lanzarote," says the Lanzarote deputy.

According to Sí Podemos Canarias, the concession of the land where the pier was built was granted by ministerial order for the first time on March 20, 1968, "in the middle of the Franco era", for 510 square meters for a period of fifty years, which culminated in 2018, but the General Directorate of Sustainability of the Coast and the Sea decided to extend it recently.

"It is necessary to know the terms and conditions of the concession, because in any case access to the public must be guaranteed, excluding the possibility of any charge in that sense," considers Del Río.
