"Phantom" strike at the Insular Hospital: the Cabildo affirms that it has been suspended and IC denies it

The Cabildo and the director of the Insular Hospital have denied this Friday that there has been a strike by the center's workers. While Intersindical Canaria assures that the first stoppage of that "indefinite strike" has been held this Friday and has had a "one hundred percent follow-up", the hospital center maintains that the day has passed with "total normality" and that such stoppage has not occurred.

As explained by both the director of the Hospital, Domingo Guzmán, and the press office of the Cabildo, the strike was "paralyzed" last week, when a meeting was agreed between the Works Council and Councilor Luis Arráez for next Monday, in which they will try to "unblock the issue". However, Intersindical Canaria announced this Thursday that the center's employees would begin an "indefinite strike" of three daily stoppages of 20 minutes each. Already this Friday, the head of communication of the union, Coralia Lobato, has insisted that the first of these stoppages has already occurred and has assured La Voz that they have not "called off anything."

"The facts are that there is a strike notice, that there is no strike here and that the councilor has told us that it is postponed at least until Monday afternoon, depending on the result of the meeting," said the director of the hospital center, who stressed that "the hospital is functioning normally, like every day."

From the Cabildo they have indicated that the Human Resources department of the institution has been in charge of monitoring and this Friday there has been "no incident". According to them, Human Resources was notified that the strike was "officially" called off after the meeting that the councilor held with the Works Council last week. They point out that the strike was thus "subject" to what would happen in the meeting that will take place on Monday afternoon.

Guzmán explained that he has been in the Insular Hospital since early in the morning and that he has not seen "absolutely anything or anyone who is out of place." "All the staff that works today is working, each one in their task," he emphasizes. "The pre-notice has not been removed, the monitoring this morning has been 100% stoppage in the 20 minutes. We do not know where that information comes from, but it is false," says Coralia Lobato for her part.
