The Cabildo of Lanzarote has opened this Friday the Papagayo Camping Area, in the Natural Park of Los Ajaches, one of the most emblematic natural spaces on the island. The summer campaign starts with optimism, thanks to the excellent occupancy forecasts and the novelties implemented in recent weeks, which consolidate this venue as a benchmark for domestic tourism in the Canary Islands.

The management of the Area led by Councilor Samuel Martín has facilitated the incorporation of important improvements in infrastructure during the current year. These include actions in the energy supply, the optimization of supplies and accesses, as well as the modernization of the common areas, thus raising the quality of the service offered to residents and visitors.

Lanzarote's only regulated camping area opens this season with an expanded capacity: eight new places for motorhomes are added to the usual offer, reaching a total of 266 plots available. The area will remain open until September 30, and high demand has already been registered as some days have reservations that are around 50% occupancy.

Vacation and nature

“We are starting a new season with great enthusiasm, with tangible improvements and with a great reception from the public, which reaffirms the importance of maintaining this type of space. Camping in Papagayo is a unique experience in a privileged natural environment, and we work every year to ensure that it remains so”, said Samuel Martín, who went to the area this morning to supervise the start of the summer campaign.

For his part, the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has valued the reopening as “a firm commitment to the sustainable enjoyment of the natural environment and the diversification of the island's tourism offer. The Camping Area is a model of coexistence with the environment, responsible use and family enjoyment”, said Betancort.

Reservation fees remain unchanged since the original opening of the space in the late 90s, which makes this service one of the most accessible natural leisure options on the island.

The island corporation reminds that it is mandatory to register all guests in advance, through a prior check-in that can be done through the platform

Likewise, the formalization of the reservation implies the acceptance of the rules of coexistence, which must be complied with to preserve harmony between campers and guarantee the protection of the natural environment.
