The Lanzarote Council has executed an investment of more than 100,000 euros in various improvements to the Papagayo Camping Area (Los Ajaches), in the municipality of Yaiza, with the aim of guaranteeing optimal and safe facilities for users for the upcoming Easter. The area will open its doors on April 4 and will remain operational until Sunday, April 20.
The president of the Council, Oswaldo Betancort, has valued this action to improve the only camping area on the island. "This investment not only guarantees the maintenance of the facilities; it is also a firm commitment to the modernization and sustainability of the campsite. Because we want families and campers to enjoy this natural environment with the best possible conditions," said Betancort.
For his part, Samuel Martín, councilor of the Environment Area, in charge of managing these island services, recalled that significant improvements have been made in infrastructure and services. "We have opted for energy efficiency, improved access and the provision of new services for campers. In addition, we have prioritized accessibility with the installation of a new walkway that will facilitate access to the beach for people with reduced mobility," Martín said.
Main improvements made
Another of the interventions of the Area managed by Samuel Martín has been the placement of 14 water connection columns for users, as well as the repair of the main water tank, with an approximate capacity of 60 cubic meters. Likewise, the laundry area has been renovated, with 13 new stainless steel sinks, as well as various improvements to the pavement or repairs in the barbecue area, signage and waste collection, including the restoration with mortar of manholes and beacons.
The improvements in electrical safety have come with the replacement of electrical connections. In addition, the forecast of the Institution chaired by Oswaldo Betancort is the upcoming installation of security cameras, whose contract is currently being prepared.
