The mayor of Teguise and regional deputy, Oswaldo Betancort, has urged the Minister of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, María José Guerra Palmero, to "from the area she directs, put the necessary means to start with the drafting of the project for a new educational infrastructure in Costa Teguise."

"The construction of the future CEIP of Costa Teguise is the only solution for the current Infant and Primary Education school of Costa Teguise to operate in optimal and reasonable conditions, both for teachers and students," said Oswaldo Betancort during the meeting held with the counselor and with the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, to whom he thanks "her constructive will."

"The City Council ceded 20,000 square meters of municipal land in 2017, and we know that the project is included in the Educational Infrastructure Plan, so the next step is to promote the drafting of the same and thus resolve the main need of Teguise in educational matters," Betancort pointed out.

On the other hand, Betancort reminded both socialist leaders that "the population census continues to grow in Costa Teguise, and that, therefore, the Public Administration has to respond to new demands, both in infrastructure and services, so, we insist to Education to unblock the contracting of the project and in turn contemplate the expansion of the Institute of Secondary Education of Costa Teguise, which will soon be too small."
