The candidate of Coalición Canaria for the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has described as a "nonsense" the announcement of the CEO of the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism (CACT), Benjamín Perdomo, to allocate 10% of the profits of said public company to the workers. "The only shareholder of the CACT is the island's Cabildo, that is, the people of Lanzarote, in whose welfare 100% of those profits must result," he stressed in a press release.

Betancort thus recalls that the benefits of any company "can only be distributed among its shareholders." That is, in the case of the CACT, among the population of Lanzarote through strategic and action plans, approved by the plenary session "and not as now when the CACT, the same subsidize murgas, sports clubs, cultural projects, that concerts, etc.", he denounced in a statement.

“What the CEO is proposing is not only a nonsense but is illegal. It is the Cabildo who, through its social, sports, cultural, educational, etc. policies, must redistribute the benefits of the CACT among the entire society of Lanzarote”, he emphasizes.

For his part, the former president and former CEO of the CACT, Pedro San Ginés, adds that "different was the approach that CC made in its day, to introduce a variable remuneration as an aspiration" of the public company. “A kind of incentive to productivity linked to objectives, that is, to the good performance of the work measured according to the achievement of said objectives as happens in multiple companies, but always within the salary mass, never as a distribution of dividends-profits of the entity”, explains San Ginés.

Thus, he gives as an example that if it were true, which it is not, that the CACT had obtained five million euros in profits, what Perdomo proposes is to distribute half a million among the workers. “A money that belongs to the entire population”.
