The Councilor for Security and Emergencies of the Tías City Council, Nicolás Saavedra, has explained the reasons for the dismissal of the Civil Protection coordinator and has accused the spokesperson for CC, Amado Vizcaíno, of lying "from beginning to end" for saying that the dismissal was carried out in "bad ways".

"I think it is unworthy for him to lie, because that of bad manners is a lie. Where does he get that argument from?", Saavedra pointed out, who also criticized Vizcaíno for resorting to the media to ask for explanations for the dismissal and not having done so "through the regulatory channel"

"I understand that everyone is looking for their minute of glory in the media, but that question must be asked with an entry record in the City Council, in this case to this councilor, and that has not been done to this day," said the Councilor for Security and Emergencies of Tías.

He claims that he proposed that there be two coordinators

Regarding the dismissal of the coordinator, Nicolás Saavedra has explained that it occurred because he did not share his idea, which is that there should be "two heads" in Civil Protection to "increase the possibilities of action" of the group.

"We, for example, do not have what is Civil Protection of the sea, we do not have means, we want to implement those means, and nobody is left over here, on the contrary, everyone is needed. So, I sat down repeatedly with him, but he told me that he did not see that union, because the other came from Boluntis," he said.

Specifically, the person with whom he was offered to share functions and who will be the new Civil Protection coordinator is Raúl Curbelo, who was already in charge of the group during the PP mandate and whom Saavedra considers was dismissed in ways "that were not the most appropriate by the PP".

"I think that both are necessary, that it is compatible for both to have tasks here, but we sat down and he reiterated the idea that he does not see it", Saavedra continued, who pointed out that after meeting "four times" with him and after the one who will be the new coordinator presented him with a "very interesting" project, he finally decided to dismiss the previous one. "The decision is my personal one, I have to decide it. It is no less true that in the end it is trusted personnel and I have not taken anyone's job away at any time. Both are local police officers, they have their job, and this is pure and hard volunteering," he pointed out.

"This councilor, possibly in the history of this municipality, is the only one who, since Civil Protection exists, has sought a consensus solution at all times. I have accepted the outgoing coordinator and the one I have decided to be my new coordinator," said Saavedra, who also considers that they have been "exquisite" in the ways when carrying out the dismissal. "We have warned him in time. In the past, decrees and dismissals were made that were learned on the same day," he added.

"We will not sit down with each of the volunteers"

Regarding the statements by Amado Vizcaíno in which he accused him of refusing to meet with the volunteers to clarify the reasons for the dismissal of the coordinator, the Councilor for Security and Emergencies has also stated that "it is false" that this has been the case.

"What I am not going to do is sit down with the volunteers without first sitting down with the coordinator. Once the coordinator is dismissed, then I will call the volunteers, among other things because there is something very important, he is dismissed as coordinator, but he can continue as a volunteer," he said.

However, Saavedra has confirmed that the dismissal occurred on September 16 and that the meeting with the volunteers has not yet taken place. "The current coordinator called 15 yesterday and four of them want us to sit down," he pointed out in this regard, assuring, however, that they will sit down "with each of them".
