The spokesman for the Nationalist Group (CC-PNC) in the Tías City Council, Amado Vizcaíno, has requested explanations "for the dismissal of the Civil Protection coordinator in the municipality" and has lamented "the methods used by the Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Nicolás Saavedra (Lanzarote en Pie-Sí Podemos), who has not even bothered to meet with the volunteers to clarify the reasons that led him to make this decision.”
“We believe that it is unacceptable to dismiss in this way, without any apparent reason, the person who built Civil Protection from scratch in the municipality,” the nationalist councilor stressed. And, as he assures, it was precisely the now dismissed coordinator who in 2011 took over this body of volunteers, carrying out "an enormous and recognized work, creating a great team."
“We are not criticizing the decision to dismiss, although we do not share it. What we want is for them to explain to us why that decision has been made and the volunteers who are part of this group have not been informed, who even found the doors of the facilities closed without knowing what could have happened,” he says.
The CC councilor points out that, as the volunteers have also explained through a statement, “the little attention paid by the responsible Council to this team during this last period has caused this stage to end not only for the coordinator but for a group of about 40 volunteers who have decided to unsubscribe from the group, much to their regret.”
Vizcaíno regrets that this situation has been reached and that "all the progress made over the last nine years has been thrown away." “Civil Protection of Tías has always been on the front line to help the citizens not only of the municipality but of the entire island when their collaboration has been required, participating in numerous events. Now, due to some reason that we do not know, the group is punished by dismissing its coordinator,” he emphasizes.
