The parliamentary spokesperson for Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC), Luis Campos, denounced this Monday that Coalición Canaria and the Partido Popular "have contradicted themselves in record time" during their eight months at the head of the Government. The opposition party accused the Government Group of having "a more than questionable democratic quality" and of "prioritizing mercantilist values over the well-being and will of the majority of Canary Islanders".
In a press release, the Canarian spokesperson announced that he will clarify in the first debate on nationality. The balance of the Canarian right-wing Executive, supported in the Chamber by CC, the PP, the ASG and the AHI, for Luis Campos, is “discouraging”. Since last July, when they assumed government responsibilities, the Canarian spokesperson denounced that the Canarian right-wing parties began to “contradict themselves, from minute one” of the new legislature.
"In record time, he added, they went from demanding that the progress pact close down chiringuitos to creating the largest number of dumping grounds for those who were left without public office in other public institutions." The result, he criticized, is a Government 30% “larger” than the progressive Executive, with an additional cost of 9.5 million euros.
NC accuses the CC and the PP of "creating political dumping grounds for those who were left without positions in other institutions." For the political party, this is the Executive of “fraud, which committed the greatest electoral deception seen so far. Without lowering the two points of the general rate of the highest consumption tax, the IGIC, as they promised; Luis Campos censured that they prioritized tax relief for the richest by subsidizing Successions and Donations while sacrificing 99.9% of the compensation for professional fuel for transporters, farmers and ranchers, the vast majority of whom are self-employed".
For Luis Campos, "the democratic values of the right-wing pact, according to the Canarian spokesperson, are more than questionable when, with their first budgets, those of 2024, they have violated Canarian laws such as those of Education, Social Services and Culture. Plans such as the cooperation plan and agreements of great social consensus, such as that of science", he remarked.
He reproached that, "in less than a year of management, the first cuts in public spending have already been applied despite having increased the budgets by 1,121 million euros." In this sense, he highlighted "less spending for the primary sector and the set of productive sectors, in general. For employment, cultural policies, water and the shameful decrease in spending on equality and against gender violence, which assimilates them to the territories governed by the PP and the ultraconservatives of Vox."
With the decree laws on Housing and for La Palma, he denounced that "planning dies, rustic land is sacrificed and the real estate business is prioritized. At the same time that he observed "a degradation of essential public services (education, social services and health) despite the effort made by a progress pact, which left important data of job creation, decrease of unemployed to figures of 16 years ago 16 years ago, affiliations to the historical Social Security and a dynamism of the tourist sector like the one prior to the world pandemic of the coronavirus".
Although “we do not share” the orientation of the Executive of the Canarian right-wing parties, Luis Campos will raise the capacity of Canarian progressivism to favor spaces of consensus in policies beneficial for the Canary Islands.
Like the pact on migration, signed last October, and to which NC-BC defended that it made "two far-reaching proposals." These are the state legal reforms necessary so that "all the communities participate obligatorily in the distribution of unaccompanied migrant minors and that the Canarian Parliament makes known, to the Board of Spokespersons of the Congress of Deputies, the reality of the situation that the Archipelago is experiencing."
