The Local Assembly of Nueva Canarias in Haría has unanimously proclaimed Marcos Lemes as the official candidate for the next elections in May 2023. This was ratified on Saturday afternoon at the Sociocultural Center "El Marinero" in Punta Mujeres, where more than a hundred people gathered between NC members and supporters in the northern region.

The event was attended by the national president of NC and vice president of the government of the Canary Islands, Román Rodríguez, who did not want to miss the proclamation of the candidate for a municipality that, according to him, is "fundamental for the canarista project in Lanzarote." Rodríguez alluded to the evident growth of the organization on the island, with the presence of local committees in all municipalities and canarista unity agreements such as the one that occurred last week in Tinajo with the Renovating Movement of Tinajo (MRT) of Antonio Morales.

"NC is prepared, has staff, ideas and a clear commitment to this land and its people. We are going to win in Haría, in Lanzarote and the Canary Islands," declared Román Rodríguez.

For his part, the candidate Marcos Lemes addressed his first words to thank the men and women who make up NC in Haría for betting on him to "steer a party with history, from here, ours, that will take care of the north." Lemes outlined the strengths of his model of municipality that revolve around democratic quality and institutional stability; the policy of care and dependency; the strengthening and increase of public services such as health and safety; youth; friendly and inclusive urbanism; environmental sustainability; the primary sector; and Canarian culture and identity.

"I come to do politics, not to be in politics. We have demonstrated this by ensuring that the Mala Clinic has a 24-hour emergency service. The only important thing that has been done in this failed legislature," said Marcos Lemes.
