The island president of the Canary Coalition in Lanzarote and mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, has finished testifying at the Civil Guard Barracks in Costa Teguise, where he went around 12.15 pm this Tuesday. Upon his departure, Machín has confirmed his indictment in the framework of Operation "Unión", although he claims to be unaware of the charges against him.
The mayor has stated that he is "calm" and wanted to make it clear that "this issue has nothing to do with the municipality of Tinajo." In addition to being a municipal mayor and island president of CC, Machín is also a businessman.
Jesús Machín was the only one to speak to the media after testifying, and among other things he asked the residents and voters of the Canary Coalition to be "calm", assuring that he has not "defrauded anyone". In addition, he also stressed that there are "many" people who are charged in this case.
Regarding the possibility of submitting his resignation, the mayor of Tinajo has said that he has no intention of doing so, although he has also made it clear that he puts himself "in the hands of his party" and the decisions that it may adopt.
While Machín was testifying, several of his government colleagues in Tinajo went to the Civil Guard Barracks. Thus, four councilors were waiting at the doors of the premises, where the press was, while the councilor Antonio Morales even entered the barracks.
