Coalición Canaria San Bartolomé expresses its satisfaction with the decision adopted by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Heritage Area, to allocate a nominated subsidy of 62,000 euros for the restoration of the historic Molina de José María Gil, whose construction dates back to 1870 and which is the only gofio production mill on the island today.

The municipal spokesperson for CC, David Rocío, highlights "the commitment" of the institution "in the conservation of this building declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BlC), which in addition to being part of the historical heritage of San Bartolomé has created jobs and has become a tourist attraction of the municipality since the property resumed the artisanal production of gofio".

Denounces the PSOE's "disinterest"

In this sense, Rocío considers "regrettable the absolute disinterest shown by both the previous government of the Cabildo, presided over by the socialist Dolores Corujo, and the City Council of San Bartolomé, also led by the PSOE, in the face of repeated calls made by the property demanding help for the conservation of both the building, an example of Canarian artisanal architecture, and its activity resumed in 2018".

An activity, recalls the municipal spokesperson for Coalición Canaria in San Bartolomé, "restarted by two businesswomen with which they have also contributed to the commercial revitalization of the municipality and which has reached high levels of excellence as demonstrated, for example, by the Grand Gold Medal they received last October in the regional gofio competition", organized by the Government of the Canary Islands presided over by Fernando Clavijo.
