Awarded the management of two night centers for homeless people in Lanzarote

The Governing Council of the Cabildo de Lanzarote has approved the awarding of the social agreement for the management of two low-threshold night care centers aimed at homeless people on the island, a key service within the island's social inclusion system.

The service will be developed by the Association of Volunteers in Emergencies and Rescue of Lanzarote (EMERLAN), the only entity presented to the process and that complies with all technical and administrative requirements demanded in the public call. The contract has a total funding of 4,143,474.34 euros and will have an initial duration of five years, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of seven years. 

The president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted that this agreement "allows guaranteeing an essential resource to assist people in a situation of residential exclusion, with a model that prioritizes immediate, flexible, and adapted attention to the reality of those who need it most".

For his part, the Minister of Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, highlighted that “this social agreement incorporates concrete improvements that reinforce the quality of the service, both in direct care and in complementary programs aimed at promoting the social inclusion of the users”.

The service will have an economic planning distributed in several annuities between 2026 and 2031, guaranteeing stability in the provision and continuity of the resource within the public social services system.
