The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Transport and Mobility, has launched the new bus line 4H, which connects the Arrecife Bus Interchange and the Bus Station with the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital.

This new service, operated by the concessionary company Arrecife Bus, S.L., responds to the need to facilitate travel for patients, family members, and healthcare professionals from all municipalities in Lanzarote, especially from areas furthest from the capital, reducing dependence on private vehicles and contributing to the elimination of geographical barriers in accessing healthcare.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has stated that the launch of this new line "represents an important step forward in our commitment to territorial equity and the improvement of public services, guaranteeing more comfortable, safe, and efficient access to the island's only reference hospital for thousands of people who use it daily".

Betancort also highlighted that "this action responds to technical and social criteria, and addresses a real demand from the citizenry, reinforcing the role of public transport as an essential service that contributes to the population's quality of life."For his part, the Minister of Transport and Mobility, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, explains that line 4H "is conceived as a connection and transfer line that will effectively link the interurban lines from the north and south with the General Hospital, improving frequency, travel times, and user comfort."Jiménez added that "the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital serves a registered population of over 152,900 health cards and records intense healthcare activity, with more than 207,000 outpatient appointments and over 70,000 annual emergency visits, which made it essential to adapt public transport to this reality".

Schedules and itinerary of line 4H

Since January 2nd, the new line 4H has been operating Monday to Friday, except on holidays, with a frequency of every 25 minutes. The service begins at 07:30 AM, with the last departure at 09:25 PM.

The itinerary starts at the Arrecife Bus Interchange, continuing through the Courthouse area, the Arrecife Bus Station, and the Public Library on the outbound journey, to end at the General Hospital and then return to the Interchange.

The creation of this line is part of the objectives for adapting the interurban transport service set out in the concession contract and in current regional regulations, which recognize regular public passenger transport as an essential public service of administrative ownership.
