The island coordinator of Lanzarote en Pie (LEP), Leticia Padilla, has indicated that her formation will present itself alone in the next elections of May 2023, ruling out any type of alliances.
Padilla stated in an interview on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero that "we have made it clear that we are going alone, there will be no confluences or electoral alliances."
With these statements, the party leader silences the "many rumors that have been unleashed in recent days", about which she relates that no one has called her directly.
"I am very clear that the formation that will be presented in Arrecife, Yaiza, Teguise, Tías and San Bartolomé is LEP without anyone else," she says.
Possible new faces within the party
However, Padilla has not ruled out "that there may be people from other parties on the lists", and has reported that they have already held conversations with people from other formations: "We have rejected options because we are clear with whom not, we still need to define with whom yes".
One of these possible inclusions could be that of the former mayor of Arrecife, José Montelongo. On this, Padilla has indicated that she has had "many coffees with him" and that she does not rule out that this could happen, although for the moment "we have not debated or approved it within the formation".
