Lanzarote en Pie (LEP) participated this Saturday, May 31, in the II Convention of municipalist parties, held in Madrid. The event brought together local political groups from all over the State that work from their municipalities for a closer, more honest and useful policy for citizens.

From LEP they have indicated that "this event has allowed us to share experiences and learn firsthand how other municipalist forces with institutional representation and government responsibilities are working".

In this sense, the island coordinator of LEP, Leticia Padilla, has stated that "the exchange has served to reaffirm the validity of municipalism as a tool for transformation from the concrete and from the roots to the territory".

In another order of things, Leticia Padilla has assured that "from this meeting, we set ourselves the objective of promoting spaces for dialogue and joint work with other municipalist organizations in the Archipelago, in order to collectively analyze, assess and debate the future of municipalism in the Canary Islands".

Finally, from the municipalist organization they have remarked that "the commitment is with Lanzarote and the Canary Islands, we understand municipalism as a way of exercising sovereignty from the local level and we are committed to building a strong, rooted and sovereign municipalist space in the Canary Islands".
