The candidate for the Presidency of the Cabildo of Lanzarote of the Popular Party (PP), Jacobo Medina, has criticized that in such important holidays as Holy Week both islanders and visitors find the Papagayo campsite closed again.

For Jacobo Medina, "it is sad that in Holy Week the only campsite enabled on the island is closed these days, showing the Cabildo and municipal authorities, one more year, that campers are only interested in nationalists for the elections. Proof of this is that the campsite is closed and that Pedro San Ginés is convening campers next week to a meeting for the summer. He has not had time to open it until now but just before an election he convenes them. And they have been carrying on with that apathy for years while the Pozo Negro campsite in Fuerteventura has hung the sold out sign this Holy Week. Compare".

Medina has stated that "as soon as the PP presides over the Cabildo, it will keep the Papagayo campsite open all year round and, at the same time, will study the provision of camping areas in different parts of the island of Lanzarote".

Jacobo Medina, after visiting the facilities, closed tightly, together with the popular candidate in Yaiza, Juan Mozón, considers that this measure not only "benefits the islanders, but also the motorhome tourism that comes from other islands or from the peninsula and, therefore, to merchants in the area in the south of the island who will see their business increased with the existence of campers all year round. But for that it is not enough with a meeting before an election to offer a third-world and obsolete campsite, it must be studied well and, of course, you have to have a real will to open it as the PP has, a modern campsite and adapted to the needs of users", concludes Jacobo Medina.
