After several months of negotiation, the signing of the "nationalist confluence" agreement has finally taken place. According to Pérez, "all members of both parties will have the same rights to be on the electoral lists."

"It is a signing to win, it is a signing for the Canarian Coalition to win, it is a signing in which we believe that the Lanzarote Assembly wins and it is a signing for Lanzarote to win and for the Canary Islands to win", commented the Island President of the Canarian Coalition, Mario Pérez, just after sealing the union pact between the two forces. Pérez also referred to the fact that with this signing they will continue to be a reference in the Canary Islands as a whole in honor of unity and that the governability of the Archipelago must pass through a nationalist project.

Mario Pérez also stated that with this agreement the Canarian Coalition will continue to be the first political force in the Canary Islands "and in the case of Lanzarote we believe that achievable objectives are that we obtain four deputies in the 2007 elections and that we obtain the sufficient majority to govern in the seven town halls of the island and in the Island Council".

Thanks to the signing of this pact, the ApL acronym disappears and becomes part of the Canarian Coalition. For this reason, the Island President of CC has expressed that the two political forces have made an enormous effort to come together jointly "with a unitary project, with a project for the future for Lanzarote and for the Canary Islands".

To carry out the integration, a joint commission will be formed with the two formations, which will establish the steps and guidelines to advance in the process of confluence of both political formations.

For her part, María Isabel Déniz, president of ApL, commented that they are witnessing a unique moment "because we are sharing an idea that we have always defended from the bodies of the Lanzarote Assembly (...) because it has always been in our objectives to fight for the unification of nationalist families in Lanzarote to become a reality".

Déniz also admitted that they have encountered many difficulties within ApL in the last year due to the negotiations initiated with the Canarian Coalition. In addition, she has also stated emphatically that ApL believes in nationalism and in Lanzarote, "so the only way to defend Lanzarote, to structure a project for all the Canary Islands, is to try to join forces within the panorama of Canarian nationalism".

Future candidates

The immediate consequence of the agreement ratified between the Canarian Coalition and the Lanzarote Assembly involves the disappearance of the acronym of the latter political formation and the integration of its members within the Canarian Coalition. In this way, in the next elections to be held in the spring, only one list will be presented where the two groups will be unified.

Although the presidents of the two island groups did not want to reveal the main names of this integrating list, although they have recalled that their members are occupying important positions in the government of the island. "We have the best men and women to lead and constitute electoral lists that achieve the support of society" and have announced that all members of the formations will have the same rights to access the lists.
