The Haría City Council has launched Haría + Joven, a stable space for participation, dialogue, and proposals aimed at bringing young people closer to municipal management and facilitating their involvement in the definition and evaluation of policies that affect their present and future.
The mayor, Alfredo Villalba, emphasizes that “young people are not only the future of Haría, but also its present, and we want them to have a voice in the decisions we make today”.
“With Haría + Joven, we want to hear firsthand about their concerns, know their priorities, and offer a permanent channel to convey ideas to the City Council, responding to and following up on the issues they raise,” Villalba points out.
The initiative will be open, plural, and institutional, and will encourage the participation of university and vocational training students, workers, entrepreneurs, and other profiles linked to the municipality. In this way, it seeks to gather different realities and establish direct communication with the new generations.
Among the issues that can be addressed are transport, housing, employment, training, sports, leisure, culture, and connectivity, as well as those issues that participants themselves consider priorities. The project also aims to foster rootedness and strengthen the bond of this group with Haría.
The initiative includes the organization of meetings, as well as extraordinary calls when necessary, in addition to the creation of specific working groups. Agreed proposals may be formally submitted to the council, which will report on their feasibility and, where appropriate, the planned actions. The next meeting will take place during the Christmas period.
In addition, an annual review of proposals, measures, and results will be carried out to monitor their evolution and ensure follow-up on the commitments made. The approach is based on real participation based on listening, responding, and incorporating the contributions received.
The City Council already held a first meeting this Wednesday, August 26, focused on information about transport aid for students at the Teleclub of Punta Mujeres, aimed at students and their families. During the meeting, the requirements, necessary documentation, and novelties of a call that doubles the budget allocated to these grants were explained, in addition to addressing queries related to the application process. The measure aligns with the goal of expanding youth policies beyond specific aid and establishing permanent channels for participation.
