The Haría City Council has temporarily covered the departure of the secretary-auditor with a local police officer, although it has already requested a substitute from the Civil Service.
This was stated by the councilor of the northern municipality, Víctor Robayna, who acknowledged that the City Council has been left "totally lame" after the secretary-auditor decided to leave the City Council.
"He decided to leave because he had his position and was on a commission of service in Haría," said Robayna, confirming that as the law allows the position to be filled with a civil servant, for now it is "a local police colleague" who is performing the functions.
"But it is clear that we cannot function like this, especially in the situation we are living in, with the pandemic and when we are allowed to use the remnants for the first time", added the councilor, who pointed out that the City Council "urgently needs" to have a secretary-auditor.
Thus, he stated that a request has already been made to the Civil Service to assign another person, noting that he hopes that "this week" they will answer them to tell them "when it will be possible to replace him". "It is true that we have references from other city councils, I think that La Villa's had also requested it, and I think they have been waiting for almost three months," he added, however.
In any case, Víctor Robayna has assured that the departure of the secretary-auditor is not affecting the payment of invoices. "That part of the Intervention team is quite powerful and quite covered, because it already has a technician," he specified.
