The Haría City Council, through its Animal Welfare Department, will intensify the application of the CER method (Capture, Sterilization, and Return) during December and January, adding 40 new sterilizations of cats to the 20 monthly interventions that have been carried out periodically.

This reinforcement will be possible thanks to the joint work with Tahíche Veterinary Clinic and the Sara Animal Shelter, entities that actively collaborate in the implementation of the CER method and in the protection and welfare of the island's community cats.

The mayor, Alfredo Villalba, emphasizes that with this measure, the municipality takes another step in the ethical control of feline colonies, promoting responsible coexistence between citizens and animals. "The involvement of associations and citizens is fundamental to ensure proper management and to address those areas where greater population growth has been detected," he points out.

The Councilor for Animal Welfare, Marcos Lemes, values the work carried out by feeders and volunteers, highlighting that "their dedication is essential to maintain and conserve the feline colonies; without them, it would be very difficult to achieve the final goal of ethical and responsible control." He also points out that the City Council will continue working hand in hand with those who care daily for the welfare of community cats.

The Haría City Council reminds that the CER method is the most effective, ethical, and respectful tool for managing feline colonies, and thanks all the people and entities involved for their collaboration and commitment.

Furthermore, the Animal Welfare Department is launching an appeal to the municipality's residents to act responsibly in pet ownership. Microchipping, sterilization, and proper care are essential to prevent abandonment, control uncontrolled proliferation, and ensure animal welfare.

With initiatives like this, the City Council "reaffirms its commitment to respectful coexistence and to the development of public policies that promote the protection and welfare of all animals in the municipality."
