The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, and the mayor of the City Council of Haría, Marciano Acuña, presented the new promotional material of the northern municipality during a press conference held this Monday at the MIAC-Castillo de San José, where they were accompanied by the Minister of the Environment of the First Island Institution, Echedey Eugenio, and the Councilor for Tourism of Haría, Soraya Brito.

The reason for the appearance was to present the Haría Walking guide, which has been prepared by City Council staff. "It is a product in which we have placed a lot of trust, with which we intend to boost the town of Haría," the mayor highlighted. Of small format, passport type, the new guide "offers three alternatives" to discover natural, cultural and heritage aspects of the municipality. "It will allow visitors to enjoy the beauty and biodiversity of the municipality through three walks that bring us closer to the views of Famara, the Mirador de Máguez, or the culture of water, so important for the island.

"The ultimate goal," Acuña pointed out, "is that some of the more than two million tourists who come to the island annually know and consume Haría." The three trails of Caminando Haría "start and end in the Plaza de Haría. They are of low difficulty, and last approximately 90 minutes." Caminando Haría is available in three languages.

Another promotional guide since 2014

Along with this hiking guide, the Cabildo and the City Council have also shown the Haría Traveler's Guide, although in this case it is already two years old and has been used since 2014 to promote the municipality. Now, these two guides will be present at the next tourism fair in Berlin. Regarding the presence of the municipality at the ITB, Marciano Acuña highlighted that it is "a unique opportunity to offer our tourism potential in the best possible showcase in a strategic market such as the German one, second in importance on the island."

The mayor explained that the City Council will promote the municipality together with the association "Haría Society", present in the ecotourism offer of the ITB since 2012, and distinguished in 2014 by the Berlin fair itself with the commemorative bear in recognition of the municipality of Haría as one of the 50 destinations in the world that stand out for its sustainability and protection of the environment. In this sense, Pedro San Ginés and Marciano Acuña agreed in pointing out the "impetus that is being given to the tourism sector of the municipality based on a proposal that is especially sensitive to those actions that respect and protect its ethnographic and heritage values."

For his part, the Minister of the Environment of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Echedey Eugenio, highlighted "the commitment to differentiation" made by both the First Island Institution and the northern municipality "through an offer that stands out for its sustainability, respect for the environment and its ethnographic and heritage values.
