The Platform of the Municipality of Haría (PMH) has confirmed that Evelia García will be the new mayoress of the municipality and that she will take office in the extraordinary plenary session on July 12 at 12 noon. The formation points out that this announcement is made "in compliance with the agreement signed in the pact with the government partners."
This news occurs after months of silence in the government group of Haría, since neither CC nor the PMH had officially confirmed who would be the substitute for Chaxiraxi Niz, although CC sources confirmed to La Voz that Evelia García would be the new mayoress. Even it was not confirmed in the extraordinary plenary session on July 1, in which Niz's resignation was acknowledged.
However, the current acting mayor, Pepe Torres, told La Voz this Wednesday that "he had resigned as head of the PMH list", so that Evelia García would be the new mayoress of the municipality.
However, that date did not have the approval of the rest of the councilors, as some are traveling on vacation. This is the case of the socialist, Alfredo Villalba, who despite being the spokesperson for the opposition, will not be in the plenary session for the inauguration of Evelia García.
Therefore, Haría will have a new mayoress from next week, who will be the sixth in just three years of legislature, after Marci Acuña, Alfredo Villalba, Chaxiraxi Niz and the accidental mayoralties of Víctor Robayna and Pepe Torres.
