The Agriculture and Livestock Area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, coordinated by Nereida Pérez, has informed all vine growers that the first symptoms of downy mildew have been detected in various vineyards on the island due to humidity.

Thus, the first institution recommends observing the new shoots, as well as applying the necessary preventive treatment in order to avoid its spread.

Downy mildew disease

This is a disease that affects some plants, usually the vine, and manifests itself in the appearance of a white powder on the bunches. In Lanzarote, this infection usually appears almost every year and the rains favor the development of this pathology in plants. If downy mildew appears when the bunch is being born, the white powder deteriorates the quality of the grape.
