Ciudadanos (Cs) has achieved the unanimous approval of its motion for the San Bartolomé City Council to commit to creating a dialogue table with the wineries of the municipality, in order to “establish and articulate a negotiation method to subscribe a public-private agreement with these entities for the use of temporary work”.

In this regard, the municipal spokesperson for Cs in the local corporation, Javier Lemes, has stated that “the time that is coming after the pandemic will mark a before and after in the municipality at a social, health and, above all, financial and labor level”.

In this sense, he has lamented that “San Bartolomé suffers an increase in people and families who see their economy diminished, since they are in a situation of ERTE or ERE”, to which he added that “some of these families cannot even have access to unemployment benefits or subsidiary aid because they do not meet the minimum requirements for obtaining it”.

Therefore, “this proposal could mean a breath of fresh air for many people, because the wine sector uses temporary labor at different times of the year for pruning or harvesting activities”.

“It is our duty as public officials and as municipal managers to establish a negotiation channel through a sector table with the wineries belonging to our municipality, and, through an articulation of compensatory proposals, establish a public-private collaboration so that this temporary work is largely subject to the hiring of the residents of San Bartolomé, and that these entities benefit from it”, concluded Lemes.
