The current Secretary of Organization of the PSOE in Lanzarote, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, will face Marcos Hernández in the PSOE primaries for the Cabildo. The former mayor of Tías has also confirmed to La Voz that he will present himself to this process to "put at the service of the party" all his "capacity for work and management".
It is the first time in history that the PSOE has faced this primary process to elect the candidate. Subsequently, the candidate who emerges from these primaries must form his electoral list for the May elections.
Cruz Saavedra wanted to take this step "within the established deadlines". "I have had the opportunity in the last two years to get to know all the corners of Lanzarote. I am totally convinced that there are other different ways of doing politics, of trying to find solutions to the serious problems of the land", he defended.
"Dignify political life"
The Secretary of Organization of the socialists on the island will explain to the members what commitments he will assume to present an electoral program for the coming years. "A project of the socialists of the island of Lanzarote to dignify political life and work with loyalty to the party, as I have done when I have had government responsibilities", he indicated.
Cruz Saavedra feels "supported" to face this primary process. "Whoever knows me and has had the opportunity to work with me knows that there was always a project, a work program, a criterion of where we are and where we want to go. I want to make this experience available to my party and the island," he said.
