The municipal group of Coalición Canaria of Arrecife has presented a motion urging the capital's City Council to cede land to the Government of the Canary Islands for the construction of two new educational centers; the IES of Maneje and the substitute of the Marítimo Pesquero, which are already budgeted by the regional executive.

"Currently, students from the Maneje district (CEIP Los Geranios, CEIP Mercedes Medina and CEIP Maneje) are provisionally enrolled in the IES Arrecife, and there is a need to vacate the Marítimo Pesquero, since it depends on the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and requires land to carry out the educational investments contemplated in the budgets of the Autonomous Community", explains the spokesperson for Coalición Canaria in the Arrecife City Council, Luis Morales.

That is why the nationalist municipal group has proposed to the Plenary of the Corporation that "as soon as possible, the process for making available to the Government of the Canary Islands the necessary land required for the construction, after location, of the two secondary education institutes be initiated and concluded".

In the opinion of Luis Morales, "the current demand for places should prompt a rapid reaction from the Arrecife City Council, and we hope they will do so with the motion we have presented, to debate it in the next plenary session of the City Council".
