The municipal group of Coalición Canaria in Arrecife will request the City Council Plenary to seek funding for the development of a plan to beautify and improve the facades of the buildings in the Titerroy neighborhood, with the aim of avoiding prolonging the deterioration of these buildings.
In the opinion of the nationalist spokesperson in the capital's City Council, Luis Morales, the first steps are to draft a project agreed upon with the residents.
"In 1968, the housing park was built with the name 'Juan Salazar Ortiz' located between Burgos, Logroño, Soria, Segovia and Ávila streets, in the Titerroy neighborhood. This group has 100 homes in a three-story building that is 40 years old, and despite its good location, as it has educational and sports centers in its surroundings, the image of these buildings is not the most appropriate, in addition to not complying with safety and urban planning measures", said Morales, who insists that "despite the effort that tenants and owners have made to maintain their homes, they require a comprehensive remodeling".
According to the spokesperson for Coalición Canaria in the Arrecife City Council, there are different grants that have been awarded for the rehabilitation of this type of housing in other municipalities of the Archipelago.
"That is why we will request, in the next plenary session, that the City Council draft a rehabilitation project for the exterior, as well as for the common areas of the Juan Salazar Ortiz buildings, while inviting it to seek the necessary funding to undertake the necessary improvements", said Luis Morales.
