Coalición Canaria (CC) has positively valued that Lanzarote has not been included in the new section of the extraordinary fuel bonus corresponding to the third quarter of 2025, published this Tuesday in the Official Bulletin of the Canary Islands, as it has the cheapest gasoline in the Canary Islands.
The general secretary of the nationalist formation in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Pedro San Ginés, recalled that "our island would have the right to said bonus if the price were above the average of the two capital islands, as a consequence of a rule approved by the Autonomous Parliament at the request of CC repeatedly denied in the past legislature by the Pacto de las Flores (PSOE, Nueva Canarias and Podemos), but this is not the case."
According to official data, the average price of a liter of fuel (95 gasoline and A diesel) in Lanzarote during the second quarter was 1.05 euros, standing 11 cents below the joint average of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, which reached 1.16 euros per liter. Consequently, Lanzarote does not exceed the threshold that would activate the aid, as established by current regulations.
Magnificent news
Pedro San Ginés emphasizes that the fact that Lanzarote does not have access to said subsidy "is magnificent news and hopefully it lasts because that will mean that the price of fuel on our island remains below the average".
"If it were not so" -he continues- "we would have the guarantee that we could access said bonus thanks to said initiative, reiterated in the present mandate by the president of the Cabildo and regional deputy, Oswaldo Betancort, and finally approved by the Parliament of the Canary Islands, which constitutes an example of well-focused island political management to guarantee equal treatment to Lanzarote and La Graciosa".
San Ginés assures that "the Cabildo will continue with its surveillance work to guarantee fair fuel prices on our island" and in that sense he points out: "We are aware that control must be maintained and reinforced, but we must also recognize that the current system places us in a guaranteeing position. Lanzarote has what it has demanded, low prices and fortunately without depending on public aid".
"Hopefully the opposition will continue to regret every quarter both in the Cabildo and in the Parliament of the Canary Islands that Lanzarote has been excluded again from the fuel bonus, because that will mean that we continue with the cheapest gasoline in the Canary Islands or at least that its price does not exceed the average", concludes the general secretary of the Canarian nationalist formation in Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
