The cleaning services of the schools of Arrecife, Tías and Costa Teguise, managed by the company Rinca, belonging to the company Camilo Álvarez, began this Thursday an indefinite strike, due to the delay in the payment of the workers' payroll, according to the general secretary of UGT, César Reyes.

The workers began the strike at 12:00 hours this Thursday, the deadline they had given for the payment of the payroll. After the deadline without the salaries having been paid, the strike "of indefinite character" began, said César Reyes. "The moment the payment is made, the strike will be lifted," he said.

According to the general secretary of UGT, this fact "is nothing new", since "the workers have been suffering delays in the payment of payroll since November".

From the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands have stated that this "is not their responsibility", but of the municipalities, although they hope that the situation will be resolved soon so that schools can function normally. In addition, they recalled that "minimum services exist".
