The unaffiliated councilors in Haría, Chaxiraxi Niz and Armando Bonilla, have resigned from their positions this Monday morning.
Chaxiraxi Niz was the mayor of Haría with the Canarian Coalition during the first part of the current legislature, between 2020 and 2022, following a motion of censure. The coalition government formed by CC and the Platform of the Municipality of Haría had agreed to share the years in power.
After Niz's departure, she was succeeded by the current mayor of Haría, Evelia García, from the PMH.
Both she and Councilor Bonilla entered the municipal government with the Canarian Coalition, but during the past year they left the nationalist party "due to lack of trust" and moved to the Mixed Group.
In January 2023, they announced the creation of the new political project Compromiso por Haría, of which Chaxiraxi Niz is the president. The former councilor of the Canarian Coalition, Armando Bonilla, is also part of the new project.
