"We denounce the lack of commitment from the Festivities councilor, the mayor, and the PSOE in this case, to the festivities of our town," say the young nationalists of San Bartolomé in a statement. Thus, the young people of the Canarian Coalition consider that the management of the patron saint festivities, which the town has been celebrating since August 11, has been "disastrous." They call María Dolores Corujo an "absent mayor" and question whether she is "too busy holding her positions as parliamentarian and general secretary of the PSOE".

For the young people of CC, "it is not normal that there are no flags, no lights, nor any other decorative object that highlights that the town is celebrating; no type of color that makes one smile in these austere times." "It seems that whoever holds the mayoralty of our municipality is a politician more akin to the right, who has taken out their belt of adjustments, than from a party that claims to be from the left. They have left the town aside, giving it festivities that the residents of San Bartolomé do not deserve," they add.

Thus, they ask if the mayor is "too busy" performing her organic role in the party and in the Parliament of the Canary Islands and "invite" her to "reflect on her position as mayor." "A position that, as of today and with the festivities she has given us, she is not performing one hundred percent," they consider, while adding that "this is not what we want in our municipality." "Enough of half measures!" they demand, while pointing out that "San Bartolomé deserves respect and festivities in accordance with those 18,689 people who live here."

"The municipality seemed to be in mourning"

"We want to convey the voice of the residents about the precariousness of the festivities of our municipality this year. A municipality that seemed to be in mourning, instead of celebrating its festivities," add the young nationalists.

"We do not understand how, instead of sitting down to prepare a recreational and sports program that would allow the residents to participate in the festivities of their patron saint, the mayor spends all her time marking political strategies and generating conflicts in other administrations, it is easy to carry out a program of events with the help of those who have contributed to developing it," some residents have told them.

"We do not remain silent when we see so much injustice, when we hear in the town the complaints of the elderly, of those mothers who do not have a single children's attraction to take their children to have a good time, or to reach such an extreme as the case of a mother who they wanted to charge for the entrance of her 18-month-old baby to a children's play," continues the statement from the young nationalists.

"It is not about making an empty, exacerbated criticism that falls on deaf ears, it is about criticizing to improve. We want a happy, joyful, and participatory town, and that involves the union of the residents and their political representatives. The residents were there, the mayor is still expected," they conclude.
