Coalition Canaria demands that all political parties take a position on "the creation of a camp to crowd migrants in the heart of Arrecife." To this end, the nationalists will raise initiatives to the plenary sessions of all the island's institutions, with the aim of "fully guaranteeing the safety, health and dignity of all the people who are arriving on our coasts irregularly; something that can hardly be achieved in the barracks that are being set up in the vicinity of the National Police Station."
That is why the spokesperson for the Nationalist Group in the capital's Consistory, Echedey Eugenio, insists that "the time has come to see if the acronyms or humanity weigh more among our rulers."
“Our proposal continues to be that these temporary accommodations take place in the Marqués de Herrera barracks in Arrecife, which has adequate facilities and services, as has been done in Tenerife with the La Laguna barracks. That is why we ask the president of the PP and mayor of Arrecife, Ástrid Pérez, to listen and not allow Arrecife to become the new Arguineguín”, he said, adding that “we want to know if the Port Authority of Las Palmas has ceded these lands to the Ministry of the Interior and if the installation complies with current legislation.”
The also Secretary of Organization of CC at the island level, also emphasizes that “it is enough that the PSOE in the islands does not act, and that the president of the Cabildo, Mª Dolores Corujo, and the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, remain silent to cover up the miseries of the State Government led by Pedro Sánchez.”
For his part, the secretary of the Local Committee of CC in the capital of the island, Jacobo Lemes, emphasizes his concern about the situation that is being generated and recalls that “things are not being done well, these people who leave their countries of origin in search of a better future are not being adequately cared for, and the population of the municipality and the island is being neglected due to the lack of personnel and services to respond to the needs of some and others.”
