The spokesperson for the Canarian Coalition in the Tías City Council, Amado Vizcaíno, has warned of the "security problem" that is being generated on the access road to "Las Grietas" of Montaña Blanca, "given the increase in visitors and curious people who leave their vehicles in an improvised parking lot to cross the road and take a photo in this curious and new tourist attraction."
For this reason, the councilor has presented a motion to the Plenary Session, so that the Corporation urges the Cabildo of Lanzarote to carry out a study of the LZ-35 at the height of the access area to this point.
“These cracks have become fashionable on Instagram and the influx of public is increasing, which generates a serious danger since to visit them you have to cross the road and the access does not have all the security guarantees,” says the CC candidate for Mayor of the southern town.
Amado Vizcaíno recalls that to the south of the slope of Montaña Blanca, where this natural phenomenon is located, "there is a small area converted into a parking lot by the visitors themselves, but it is already beginning to show signs of being insufficient" given the large influx. "It has become small and an important problem of road insecurity is beginning to be generated," he says.
"Vehicles completely stopped waiting for the departure of some other vehicle from the aforementioned parking lot, others making U-turns and pedestrians crossing the road with the consequent danger, are images that can be seen daily," says CC.

“That's why it is necessary to take action on the matter, to carry out a study that prevents us from having to regret future accidents and run-overs,” Vizcaíno warns.
On the other hand, the councilor warns that “the exploitation of images of this type of natural phenomena through social networks because there is nothing to protect them, is having terrible consequences for our landscape and our environment.”
Thus, he gives as an example the leaning palm tree of Masdache, which appeared sawn off last Monday. “I don't know if I can say that this palm tree has died of success because it was visited more and more, what I do know is that CC presented a motion to the Tías plenary session to protect both this specimen and other emblematic species of the municipality, as is also the case of the tree on Roque Nublo street.”
“We do not ask for miracles from this government because we can do little in the face of an attack of this type, but we do ask that protection measures be carried out such as those we requested in the motion that was approved and subsequently ignored,” Vizcaíno asserts.
