CC demands actions to "recover" the commercial fabric of Arrecife and reiterates that the avenue be opened

CC will propose several actions to the Arrecife plenary to "recover" the commercial fabric of the capital, as well as reiterate its request that the maritime avenue be opened to traffic "once and for all". According to the nationalists, "the prohibition of vehicular traffic from circulating on the maritime avenue and the disastrous consequences that this fact is having for Arrecife, such as the closure of many businesses, continues to be, along with the non-payment of subsidies and aid, one of the main concerns not only of the people who reside in the capital of the island, but of all those who, for different reasons, must access the city daily".

"The city is getting worse and worse", considers the CC spokesperson in the Arrecife City Council, who believes that "we have a mayor who is laughing at all citizens to their face, constantly lying and failing to fulfill each and every one of her commitments". "A mayor who has now also assumed the powers of the Department of Commerce, which are added to those of Finance and the General Plan that she already had", he adds.

"We thought the situation couldn't get any worse, but I see that we were wrong. If in these months she has been unable to assume the responsibility of the municipal Treasury and has paralyzed the General Plan, what does she want to do with the commercial fabric of Arrecife?", asks Martín, pointing out that "this is why, once again, the Coalición Canaria-Partido Nacionalista Canario (CC-PNC) group extends a hand, offering solutions through two motions that will be brought to the next plenary session of the Corporation".

"The commerce of Arrecife is certainly not going through its best moment. Between those who have had to close their doors and those who have changed location, the city is no longer the great Open Commercial Zone it once was, and this is something we cannot allow", emphasizes the councilman.

"The mayor has been ignoring the citizens for 21 months"

Specifically, the nationalists propose to the municipal plenary several actions "that would enable the resurrection of that municipal commercial fabric". Actions "such as updating the website www.comercioarrecife.es, recovering the projects to revitalize commerce in the neighborhoods and re-launching campaigns such as Black Friday, Stockazo or the Local Commerce Fashion Show".

"These actions should also go hand in hand with what the nationalists propose (once again) in another of their motions: the opening once and for all of the Avenida Marítima to vehicular traffic in a south-north direction", adds the CC spokesperson in the City Council. "The mayor has been ignoring the citizens for 21 months, but this cannot continue. The traffic chaos is terrible and, at this time, it is intended to execute two new projects of the Arrecife 'El Puerto' Master Plan on Calle Hermanos Zerolo and the old Alférez Cabrera Tavío", he emphasizes.

Therefore, the nationalist group reiterates its request "that the plenary agreements of October 31, 2016 and June 6, 2017 be complied with and that the maritime avenue of the capital be ordered to be opened immediately to vehicular traffic". "La Marina is one of the five projects of the Arrecife Open Commercial Zone. Only the first of three phases had been executed. Therefore, neither all the conditions set forth in the Master Plan were met, nor are they met to carry out said closure", concludes the CC spokesperson.
