The Governing Council has approved this Monday the contracting, expenditure and opening of the tender procedure for the work called ‘Execution of works by lots of seven sports court roofing projects’, through an open procedure and ordinary processing, for a total amount of 3,879,270.84 euros, destined to improve and adapt the sports facilities of several educational centers in the archipelago.
The action is part of the Plan to adapt educational centers to high temperatures and aims to ensure that students have adequate outdoor spaces for sports throughout the year, protected from solar radiation and inclement weather.
Specifically, with this investment, it is planned to roof the courts of the early childhood and primary education centers (CEIP) Luis Cortí, in Santa María de Guía, in Gran Canaria; Pájara and Cristóbal García Blairzy, in Fuerteventura; and the secondary education institutes (IES) César Manrique, in Arrecife, Lanzarote; Teobaldo Power, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife; the IES Luis Cobiella Cuevas, in Santa Cruz de La Palma, and Garoé, in Valverde, in El Hierro.
The approved budget, which will be distributed over several years charged to the items allocated to the aforementioned plan, includes various foundation works, installation of metal structures, in some cases, partial demolitions and accessibility adaptations to ensure that the spaces comply with the required technical conditions.
This action is in addition to other investments promoted within the framework of this strategy, with which the regional Executive seeks to respond to the needs derived from climate change, improving the habitability of school spaces and guaranteeing the continuity of educational activity in adequate conditions.
