The spokesperson for the Canarian Coalition in the Tías City Council, Amado Vizcaíno, accuses the socialist mayor, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, of practicing a "cheap demagoguery" that keeps the municipality stagnant in unfulfilled promises.
Vizcaíno points out that, for almost six years, Cruz Saavedra has held numerous meetings with the Insular Association of Hotel and Apartment Business Owners of Lanzarote (ASOLAN), but the projects discussed "remain mere proposals on paper, without materializing into concrete actions."
In addition, the nationalist spokesperson criticizes the lack of monthly meetings that the mayor promised to the residents, and assures that these meetings, so necessary to know firsthand what are the main concerns of those who reside in the municipality, are held, with luck, once a year.
"In these meetings, the mayor limits himself to talking about projects that are never carried out, demonstrating a total lack of effective management," says Vizcaíno.
Among the unfulfilled promises, Vizcaíno highlights the expansion of the municipal cemetery with 288 new niches, announced by Cruz Saavedra in September 2024, which has not yet begun. "All he did was desecrate tombs in the face of the urgency of running out of space. He played with an extremely sensitive issue and had no respect for the families, whom he did not even deign to inform. A totally inadmissible attitude that demonstrates what kind of person we have in the Mayor's Office of Tías."
He also points out the lack of connection of localities such as Masdache with the bus service, despite the presentation of a Mobility Plan that has never been implemented.
"It is evident that the mayor talks and promises a lot, but does nothing," says Vizcaíno, who assures that the list of deceptions is endless."
"If José Juan Cruz Saavedra does not know how to manage the City Council, we urge him to step aside. The times of unfulfilled promises are over; Tías needs real actions and a leadership committed to the well-being of its citizens."
