The Cabildo of Lanzarote, the Centers for Art, Culture and Tourism and the tourism business association have reached an agreement for the update of access fees for tourists and visitors from January 1st in the course of a meeting in which their managers were present: Oswaldo Betancort and Ángel Vázquez. Representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Lanzarote and La Graciosa and of the travel agencies in the archipelago also participated in the agreement.

At the end of the meeting, a visibly "satisfied" Oswaldo Betancort highlighted "having worked together to unblock this situation and reach an island agreement that is the result of consensus, high-mindedness, dialogue and thinking above all about the benefit of Lanzarote and La Graciosa."

In the same line, the counselor of the Entity, Ángel Vázquez, pointed out that the new rates "are adjusted to the real value of the Tourist Centers, artistic jewels and reflections of the lifestyle in balance and harmony with the territory that this island opted for". Vázquez maintains that this initiative "benefits many people, makes us more competitive compared to other destinations and allows us to improve the quality of the customer experience".

The framework of the agreement

The agreement will mean the entry into force of the new rates from January 1, 2024. The counselor of the Centers for Art, Culture and Tourism facilitated the incorporation of a transitional provision by which the Entity extends the validity of tickets purchased before the winter season of 2022, that is, from November 2022 to April 2023, until June 2024.

Similarly, the agreement contemplates an annual increase in rates by the value of the CPI. Finally, the Centers committed to exploring new formulas that allow improving the customer experience.
